The Cameroonian Imaging Center – Evolving With LBN Medical

Céntre Médical la Cathédrale (CMC) is a private imaging center located in Youndé, the capital of Cameroon. It is managed by Professor Tagni and his wife.

The seed of the relationship was planted when LBN Medical was known as Epoka Medic Mission.

It all started with a small parts deal arranged by one of our sales representatives.

Professor Tagni never forgot the solution LBN provided, and so the small seed was growing.

Since 2015 we have put our trust in LBN, which has never disappointed us.” Professor Tagni

And finally an MRI system – the first 1.5T MRI in a private clinic in Cameroon, in partnership with Toshiba.

Here, at LBN Medical, we are trying to provide not only equipment, but full solutions to all of our customers. We are looking forward to our future cooperation with CMC imaging center and others!

DR Congo

Empowering Panzi Hospital: Delivery and Installation of GE Senographe Essential

Panzi Hospital, located in Bukavu, the capital of the Sud-Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was founded in 1999 by Denis Mukwege, who in 2018 received the Nobel Peace Prize. This hospital was established to treat women who have been victims of severe sexual violence. Since 1999, Mukwege and his staff have helped over 50,000 survivors of sexual violence.

This hospital now also serves as a general hospital for nearly half a million people, treating everything from broken bones to cancer, in a region in great need of high-quality health care. We were pleased to be contacted by Kerstin, a representative of Panzi Hospital, looking for a digital mammography machine. They want to provide their patients with the best possible diagnoses and be able to detect breast cancer.

After discussions and phone calls, Kerstin found a perfect mammography system for Panzi Hospital, with the help from our Key Account Manager Martin. However, after agreeing on installation and other details, the COVID-19 pandemic hit for the first time and our engineer could not enter Congo.

That meant a lot of waiting and planning. Finally, at the beginning of 2021, we were able to fulfill our promises, deliver the system, the GE Senographe Essential, and perform the installation.

After everything was settled and the mammography machine had been in use for a few months, our Key Account Manager received an email from Kerstin:

“Hello, Martin, I want to thank you for everything you have done for Panzi Hospital to get a good mammography device. Now I get more text messages and phone calls from Panzi Hospital that the picture quality is so good! Mungo, the X-ray nurse, writes that he now has the best mammography images in the region”

We are happy to be able to assist in so many regions of the world, and the feedback we received is a strong motivator to do so:

You do a great job at LBN. It is a challenge for you to work in developing countries, but you have taken on the task. God bless you and LBN in the future.”

Revolutionizing Mammography at CIMED with Fuji Amulet S

When Ibrahima Bah, the CEO of Cabinet d’Imagerie Médicale d’Explorations (CIMED) in Conakry, Guinea, needed a new mammography system for his clinic, he turned to us.

Our former Key Account Manager Sidney helped him find the system that suited the requirements of the clinic. We arranged installation, testing, training and handover of the Fuji Amulet S Mammography System.

Mr. Bah explains that transitioning from their old Siemens Mammomat 1000 to the Fuji Amulet S was easy, thanks to the great support received from LBN’s team.

The new system gave the clinic a more efficient workflow – no more dealing with cassettes or printers with the move from an analog to a fully digital system.

As Mr. Bah shared with us: ‘’The upgrade has more than doubled our patient throughput. We used to be able to handle a maximum of 10 patients a day, but now can serve many more, positioning us as a leading clinic in the market.’’

We know it’s important for the clinic to provide the highest level of care to their patients, and we are proud to say that, thanks to the high quality used system from us, we have helped them reach their potential.

‘’The quality of images has improved greatly. We are now the only center in the region offering examinations with contrast, which gives much clearer images and a higher value service to patients.’’

Patients also appreciate the change as the quieter operation and intuitive design of the Amulet S make them feel more confident and comfortable during exams. The modern look of the system adds to the overall positive experience, both for the staff and patients.

Upgrading to a Digital Mammography Machine

As a result, Mr. Bah would feel very confident in recommending us and our systems to other professionals: If people want a high image quality/a high quality system, they should go to LBN.”

We’re happy to say Mr. Bah chose to equip the clinic with more systems from us! We have already supplied them with the Acuson Juniper ultrasound system and now we are excited to work with them on a new project, the Toshiba Aquilion RX 16 CT scanner.

Bringing Advanced CT Imaging to Somalia with Canon Aquilion Prime

In September 2023, we completed the installation of an Aquilion Prime CT system at a newly built hospital in Mogadishu, Somalia. This project was an important step in improving healthcare services in the region, and it was led by our Key Account Manager, Omar Kassar.

The installation was carried out in a single trip over five days, with two skilled engineers managing the process. Despite facing a few technical challenges, our team successfully overcame them, completing the installation on time.

After thorough testing and training, the system was handed over to the hospital staff, fully operational and ready to serve patients.

Dr. Mohamad Elmi, who requested the CT system, expressed his satisfaction by how easy the entire process was.
Omar shared: “Dr. Elmi is very happy and satisfied. Everything went smoothly without any problem.”

Zimbabwe

Dr Pedzisai from Zimbabwe – Providing Patients with Excellent Care Using the Siemens S1000

Let us introduce you to Tinaye – a sonographer from Zimbabwe. In his practice, he mainly focuses on abdominal examinations.

When looking for an ultrasound last year, he did extensive research to find the machine that would bring him the most value. As new medical equipment is pricey, he investigated used equipment instead.

Finding a reliable supplier is a challenge. Unfortunately, there are still plenty of stories about scams and fraud in our line of business. And it can be particularly difficult when purchasing from abroad, as visiting the company might not be an option. When Tinaye first came across LBN Medical, he was therefore very cautious.

“I think I might be the first person from Zimbabwe to buy equipment from LBN, so I was very very skeptical at first. However, after some interactions with Simon and Wsam, they gave me a reference of hospital in Zambia which had bought some equipment from LBN. I had some discussions with the guys from Zambia and they convinced me LBN sell genuine equipment. “

When his worries were taken care of, he was ready to proceed. He needed to find an ultrasound that was a great fit for his practice.

“The salespeople are very patient and helpful. You will never feel deprived of any information when conducting business.”

Now Tinaye is providing his patients with excellent care using the Siemens S1000.

The ultrasound machine I bought from LBN is in good condition and does a high-quality job. My colleagues here in Zimbabwe thought it was a new machine.”.

As we do our very best to deliver great healthcare solutions at a good price, we are happy to hear that we did just that for Tinaye.

The ultrasound scan quality is comparable to some new machines I have used before. I got value for my money. Also, for all challenges I had in setting up the machine, I got good assistance from LBN”.

We are grateful that Tinaye shared his experience with us, and we look forward to supporting him on his path to bring better health care to his patients.
